LONDON GHOST FESTIVAL 2009
Friday 23th October 2009
HELL-oween at the London Dungeon
Hell, Purgatory, Hades, the land of fire and brimstone. It’s the place for lost souls, a place for the condemned. With an array of reported paranormal activity, it seems limbo is nearer than you think, because if the sightings are real, the dead walk in legions once the doors are closed. The dungeon illustrates in gory detail, many lives of torment. The eternal screams and misery replicates Hell itself. Has this confused the dead who were destined for an eternal life of wretchedness? Does the dungeon contain a doorway to Hell itself? This infamous location is a LPS favourite, therefore a perfect location to launch London Ghost Festival. Ever wanted to stay after closing? This is your chance.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
Beyond the mutilated exhibits, torture equipment and dark corridors, we find multiple reports of ghostly children in the plague area, silent figure’s appearing in the mortuary or gliding around the Great Fire exhibit. General poltergeist activity is encountered when doors rattle, open and close whilst knocks and raps are heard, especially in the Jack the Ripper area. Previous investigations have uncovered much auditory phenomena, and many of the investigators were spooked in the world’s largest mirror maze as strange mists, dragging footsteps and clanking of chains have been experienced. Sightings are regularly witnessed fueling the stories.
In the film, Nightmare on Elm Street, the character Freddy Krueger was created by peoples fear and was seen as what some aficionados would call a ‘Thought Form’ we feel a similar creation may also be associated with the horror attraction also. 30 years of injected fear, screams and horror, surely has left its mark in the ether and shadows of the dungeon. In fact, has it left more than just residual stain, has fear itself, been condensed into a being?
Sometimes described as a museum of historical horror, and recalling events and atrocities from the past, is it not recommended for those with a nervous disposition. The London Dungeon events have never proved disappointing. Not many people get the chance to experience the dungeon after closing time, with an atmosphere that chills you to the bone. Are you ready?
